Remember that dogs have not been domesticated for very long and this means they will sometimes disobey their owners. It’s not out of disrespect, but because they are not used to this type of pressure.

Remember that the quality of life for your dog is important

You should never force an animal to do training or dog shows if you believe that it is damaging their quality of life. If you think that they are just as happy as they always are even with the training in their life, then you can continue with the training sessions. However, if you can see that your dog is not enjoying it and they are not grasping the concept thoroughly, then you should probably place the training aside and focus on other things that are more healthy for your dog.

Teach them basic tricks like shake, rollover, and sit

You will have to continuously show them what you are trying to get them to do and once they completed successfully, you will have to reward them with a dog treat. Training in animal to do these types of basic commands is very repetitive. You simply have to show them that when you say rollover that you want them to actually lie down and rollover and then they will get a treat. They become used to this process and they will start to learn it as you practice it.

Teach them how to do more advanced tricks

After you have taught your dog the basic tricks, you can then move on to more advanced tricks. Teaching a dog these types of things is going to require repetitive action on your part. As the trainer, you will have to do more work than they do. It’s your responsibility to work with the dog on a daily basis and show them exactly what you are trying to get them to do, while taking repetitive action to make sure that they learn it. While dogs are very smart, they are not the smartest animals on earth and it will take them some time in order to grasp the concepts that you are trying to teach them.
